MESSAGE FROM Chancellor

Over the past decade, higher education in India has undergone a remarkable transformation. New disciplines have emerged, industry engagement with academia has deepened, and private universities have played a pivotal role in expanding access and diversity in learning. While traditional domains like management, science, commerce, and engineering have long found their place, creative fields such as art and design—though rich in cultural heritage—remained underexplored due to limited employment opportunities in the past.

That is changing. In today’s experience-driven, media-rich world, the design and aesthetic quality of products and services matters more than ever. Whether it’s a digital interface, a product, a garment, or a built environment—success now hinges on how well it functions, feels, and connects with its users. As a result, design education has emerged as a critical enabler of innovation, entrepreneurship, and global competitiveness.

In a world where perceptions shape markets, the quality of design education and research directly impacts the quality and value of goods and services a country can offer. India needs a new generation of creative professionals who can bridge art and industry, culture and commerce, tradition and technology.

The OP Bansal Educational and Social Welfare Trust, which has long been committed to providing quality education in engineering, management, and architecture, has taken the next step by establishing the World University of Design (WUD) at Rajiv Gandhi Education City, Sonipat. This is our contribution to nurturing India’s creative capital and building a strong, design-led economy.

We warmly welcome all students who are passionate about creativity and design to join WUD and become part of this national movement—reimagining India through education, innovation, and purpose-driven design.
