The School of Architecture at World University of Design had the distinct privilege of hosting an insightful and inspiring masterclass led by renowned architects Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee, co-founders of HAS Design and Research, Bangkok. The session was a part of the university ongoing commitment to bringing global design perspectives to its students and fostering academic excellence through international exposure.

Held in the university Design Auditorium, the masterclass saw an enthusiastic turnout from architecture and design students, faculty, and industry professionals. The lecture revolved around the duos pioneering design philosophies, sustainable strategies, and the seamless blend of architecture with local culture and context — hallmarks of HAS Design and Research work across Asia.

Exploring the Invisible Border

The theme of the session, Invisible Border, explored how architecture can bridge boundaries — be they cultural, environmental, or spatial. Through a series of compelling project presentations, the speakers showcased how their work is deeply rooted in local identity while also being globally relevant. Their portfolio, which includes residential, cultural, and commercial projects, reflects a harmonious balance between form, function, and narrative.

Redefining Regional Identity Through Design

Jenchieh Hung emphasized the importance of context-driven design, sharing how their practice challenges conventional norms and encourages architects to look beyond aesthetics. He elaborated on the use of local materials, passive design strategies, and spatial storytelling — elements that define their signature approach.

Kulthida Songkittipakdee, meanwhile, shed light on the process of architectural research and how their firm navigates between tradition and innovation. She engaged students with anecdotes from past projects and urged them to find architecture in everyday life.

Interactive Dialogue with Students

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment where students had the opportunity to interact directly with the speakers. The dialogue ranged from discussions on contemporary Asian architecture to career advice for aspiring architects. The duo openness and clarity made the interaction both informative and inspiring.

A Glimpse into Global Practices

This masterclass was not just a lecture — it was an immersive learning experience. It broadened the students understanding of how architecture can be a tool for cultural expression and societal impact. It also provided valuable exposure to international practices, encouraging students to think globally while remaining rooted in their immediate context.

The World University of Design continues to host such thought-provoking events to ensure that its students are equipped with a holistic education that transcends the classroom. The masterclass by HAS Design and Research stands as a testament to this vision — one that shapes the future of design, one interaction at a time.

WUD organised IKSHANA, an exhibition showcasing 40 photo-works of its students, opening Tuesday evening at Punjab Lalit Kala Academy Gallery in Chandigarh. The exhibition runs 26th till 31st.

World University of Design hosted the Srijan Shakti Awards at IIC Delhi, honoring women making remarkable contributions to the design industry. The event featured a keynote by Mugdha Sinha, DG of Tourism, Govt. of India, and a panel discussion on women entrepreneurs in design. Awards were presented to Nutan (Design Entrepreneur of the Year), Dr. Shaon Sengupta (Industry Innovation Champion), and Monika Khanna Gulati (Social Impact Catalyst), with a special mention for Siju Indu Arjan. The day celebrated inspiration, empowerment, and the transformative role of women in design.

Yesterday evening, we witnessed WUDs Campus Without Walls in its truest form - where creativity flowed beyond boundaries, where spaces became more than structures, and where learning was an immersive, living experience.

As dusk painted the sky in hues of gold and indigo, the grand staircase of WUD became the stage for KANAK - a breathtaking confluence of design and movement. Over 30 designers from WUDs School of Fashion draped their student models in ethereal whites and off-whites, embodying the elegance of their handcrafted Indian ensembles. But what made Kanak truly magical was the seamless interweaving of Indian Classical Dance, not as a prelude but as an intrinsic part of the shows narrative. Dancers from the School of Performing Arts moved in perfect harmony with the runway, their performances set to the soul-stirring strains of Sufi music. This was not just a show, it was an experience.

Captured exquisitely by the photography club, this evening was a celebration of design, dance, and dreams woven together. Hats off to everyone who made this vision come alive.

The Vice Chancellor of the World University of Design shared insights in Education Times on key trends shaping education in 2025. Highlights include the rising popularity of unconventional disciplines, a stronger emphasis on accessibility, the growth of industry-academia partnerships, and preparing students to meet global challenges.

At the Kazanysh Forum in Kazan, the Vice Chancellor of the World University of Design met Rais Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, to discuss potential architectural collaborations between the regions. Delivering a talk on Systemic Challenges and Main Vectors of Sustainable Development in India, the VC highlighted India’s evolving temple towns and presented WUD’s innovative Campus Without Walls concept in a session on architectural education. The visit sparked promising discussions on exchange programs and collaborative projects, paving the way for meaningful cultural and academic partnerships.

A team of 5th-year Architecture students from the World University of Design — Mayank, Mitesh, Dipsi, and Saadwika — had their Urban Design Model selected for display at Srujan, the prestigious exhibition curated by the Council of Architecture during the Bharat Parv Celebrations at Red Fort, Delhi. Organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, the exhibition recognized the students innovative approach to urban planning and design. This national-level recognition marks a proud achievement for both the students and their faculty.

At the UKRI India Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Roadmap workshop in Mumbai, the World University of Design initiated a new international project in partnership with the University of Huddersfield and other AHRC cohort members. The collaboration focuses on post-office cultures, exploring creative scanning practices with support from partners such as Kirklees Museums and Galleries, Kirklees Council, The Postal Museum, and INTACH. This cross-border initiative aims to connect cultural heritage research with community engagement and innovative preservation methods.

The World University of Design has received the Excellence in Education for Sustainable Development award from a UN-affiliated body, presented by the Honble Governor of Uttarakhand. This recognition marks the university’s 15th accolade in 2024, capping a highly rewarding year of achievements and affirming its commitment to sustainability in education.

The World University of Design has secured a spot on Business World Education’s prestigious Top Education Brands Power List – Super 30, recognizing it as one of India’s leading emerging higher education institutions. Prof. Devendra Kharb, Dean of the School of Fashion, accepted the silver trophy on behalf of WUD.

The World University of Design has been honored with the Emerging University of the Year award by AIU-SEPC at the event Transforming Higher Education & Skilling towards Vikshit Bharat 2047 on September 28, 2024. Anshika Khurana from the School of Architecture and Aashna Khanna from the School of Communication Design at the World University of Design were selected to participate in the prestigious Leadership Dialogue organized by the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industries. Reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, the World University of Design’s School of Fashion and Textile has signed an MoU with a leading recycled yarn industry. The collaboration emphasizes the shared goal of reducing landfill waste and integrating eco-friendly practices into education and industry, aligning with WUD’s core sustainability ethos.

Prashant Patil, Visual Arts faculty at the World University of Design, has been named among the top ten shortlisted candidates for the third edition of the TAF Emerging Artist Award – South Asia 2024, selected from over 1,000 applicants across eight countries. This recognition will provide him with international exposure and opportunities to showcase his work in London, South Asia, Europe, and beyond.

On the birth anniversary of Late Prof. MP Ranjan, World University of Design felicitated Laila Tyabji as a National Design Guru.
Laila Tyabji's name is synonymous with the revival and empowerment of Indian artisans. As the co-founder of Dastkar and the spirit behind the Nature Bazaar initiative, Laila has devoted a lifetime of over 50 years of her life towards elevating the stature of India's rich artisanal heritage on a global platform.
Delivering her MP Ranjan Memorial Lecture, Laila Tyabji captivated the listeners with her narrative of India's dual identity - a technological titan and a cradle of ancient craftsmanship. "We have a monstrous growing IT industry, but we also have craftspeople," she reminded the audience, highlighting the need for a harmonious balance between the new and the old. Her voice carried a mix of wisdom and gentle fervor as she addressed the young design students of WUD, "Learning never stops, and every day has a test," she stated. She called on them to use their craft to make sense of the complexity surrounding them and to innovate from a place of authenticity. She ended her speech with a compelling charge: "We should live life and each minute as if it were your last."

The ability to make a range out of a central idea or a theme is an important attribute of a graduating fashion designer which all potential employers check out for. A range is primarily a collection of looks that fit within the theme with each look having its own unique point and price. At a single glance, a range allows one to visualize how the pieces will coordinate together, mix and match, and contribute to the look as a whole.

The Film and Video Design school of WUD got a boost yesterday with the induction of BLACK MAGIC URSA Mini Pro 12K super 35 mm 80 megapixels camera for high end feature film production. The excitement among the students and faculty alike was palpable. We were told WUD is the first institution in the country to receive this absolutely top grade equipment.

As a part of the Digital Graphics module, foundation students of the School of Communication at WUD were given the task of creating a thought provoking poster on the topic- "Climate Change". Quite a few came up with exceptional work (a bit unexpected from foundation students) backed by a very evolved thought process. It was a pleasure to have my old colleague from NIFT, Jatin Bhatt on WUD campus and have the title of Design Guru bestowed on him. Jatin represent the second generation of Design Gurus who spent a lifetime devoted to shaping the Indian design education and preparing several generations of design students. It was also nostalgia time as other old-time colleagues & friends joined the celebration. I look forward to more of my generation design educators receive this prestigious title in years to come.

GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION DESIGN is an evolving field today that not only involves creating stunning visuals but to also communicate a company’s message to their audience. Whether they work in branding, advertising, or web and app design, they have the power to strategically communicate the message. Sharing the diverse body of work of WUDs 4th and 6th semester students – from Storybook composition & illustration, to signages, window displays and video narrative, their visual problem-solving prowess is in full display.

In the field of animation the importance of immersive character and environment design is supreme. They are not isolated components in the overall digital experiences, but crucial elements that drives the narrative and experience of a viewer, player, or user. Value of a good designer lies in formulating believable characters and environments. Our students at WUD seem to be mastering the art. Very happy to share such delightful outputs.

School of Architecture at WUD makes sure that it is students are at the cutting edge of their field. BIM or Building Information Modeling is the latest intelligent 3D model-based process that gives architects the insight and tools to more efficiently plan, design, construct, and manage buildings and infrastructure. Our students are equipped. Not sure if any other architecture College offers this kind of education!

Explorations by Prabhleen Kaur, our student of BVA Creative Painting stream. One can see that it has been a liberating expression of feelings and experiences for her. She has managed to create something new from the depths of her hearts and souls, it is the expression of her deepest self. Technical skills or special material were inconsequential, the only thing needed was desire to create and express.

Production Design is an important focus area to master in WUD FILM & VIDEO DESIGN program. Here are some stills from an exercise in lighting which our students did at home using basic available lights like lamps, etc. They were asked to replicate the classic film noir feel with low key lighting. It is amazing what can be achieved even under extreme conditions, when you are focused on learning!

PRODUCT DESIGN as a specialization opens windows into every known manufacturing segment - from bottle design to tool design, from computer accessories to kitchen implements design. As these works of our third year students show that utility is as important a criteria as usability as also desirability are. Even if the product is largely functional, both the ease-of-use and aesthetics of the product play important roles in making it saleable.

D’source Corona design challenge, Gokul Gopi MDes Industrial won along with his team comprising students from other universities, designed for “Sanitization of Rooms For Aggregate hotel chains that provide online booking platform” organised by IDC Mumbai.

YET ANOTHER GOOD NEWS FOR WUDians. Our team has made it to the finals of TOYCATHON - the inter-ministerial initiative under the "AatmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan" organized by Ministry of Education Innovation cell along with AICTE, Ministry of women and child development, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of MSME, Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Information and broadcasting. The prestigious competition had attracted nearly 18000 entries. Well done Team WUD. Now make it to the top!

We are very happy to share this with everyone that Rugved Patil, our M.Des Transportation Design student has won the second prize in the countries biggest Automotive Design Competition organized by SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers). SIAM ADC is an annual, national design competition that usually attracts 150+ entries from students of top design schools in the country. Only two institutions however made it to the podium this year - NID & WUD. I feel proud of Rugved who broke the glass ceiling for WUD and made it count!

World University of Design presented “YAJNASENI" an art exhibition comprising 30 - 35 vibrant pieces of art by three different genres of 23 Eminent Female Artists - senior, young and budding on the occasion of International Womens Day at RKG Art and Culture Center, 7-B, Basement, Dr. C.V. Raman Road, New Friends Colony, New Delhi. Chief Guest Shri Dinesh K Patnaik, Director General, Indian Council of Cultural Relations inaugurated the event.

Very happy to share that work of 6 students from WUD School of Visual Arts is selected for International Virtual Engravist Printmaking Bienal Istanbul. They will be among 602 artists from 54 countries whose works will be exhibited in 7 virtual galleries and will feature in their digital artwork catalog. Kudos to all the teachers for getting this inspired work out of them under such demanding circumstances.

More good news from our Learning from home students. Muskaan Mehrotra, our third year Graphic Communication student from School of Communication, designed posters on Corona virus Pandemic, 3 of which have been selected for showcasing in an offline exhibition by Shenzhen illustration association at The Opium War Museum, China. The posters depict the hard work and struggle done by our corona warriors, the unsung heroes, who risk their lives to save others.

Over twenty interactions organized by WUD in past two months with design thinkers, leaders, corporate honchos; all sharing their experiences about design thinking/ strategy/ interventions forming the backbone of their work.

Artificial Intelligence is widely expected to disrupt all businesses in the coming days. At World University of Design, our effort is always to try and be ahead of the times. We have been training all our design, art, architecture and management students in IA as we believe that AI + Design Thinking is the only way newer and better applications of AI would be found. We would like to share our experience in the field by helping train faculty of other universities/ schools of design, engineering & management. The Visual Art students of WUD are making a mark all around the world. This brilliant piece made by our student Anu Ahuja has found a place in the Nithililo Studios Art Gallery and School in Africa as an outcome of Online Art Competition 2020.

Our homebound but innovation driven learners from home continue to surprise us with what all they are able to achieve. Happy and proud to share that Anu Paul, student of MDes Industrial Design has won 2 prizes in a weekly competition held on social media.

Design Thinking is the essential ability to combine empathy, creativity, and rationality to meet user needs and drive business success. With an aim to encourage students to practice design thinking mindsets, the School of Management conducted the Marshmallow Exercise for students from various disciplines. This exercise helped them learn crucial aspects of collaboration, innovation, hidden assumptions and team spirit. The activity took 45 minutes in total, wherein the participants were divided into groups of 6. Each team was given a certain amount of spaghetti, a marshmallow and paper tapes. The teams were given a limited time of 18 minutes to build a free-standing spaghetti structure with the marshmallow placed on top. The team with the tallest structure won the challenge. This activity had a huge impact on students when they failed to build something deceptively simple. As the teams rushed to build up their towers taller than their competitors, they ignored the most important aspect i.e. stability, and saw their structures collapsing towards the end. Surprisingly, the winning team had built the shortest structure but it could stand the test of stability. The realization that planning is as important as building was the key take away. The fun design and build activity taught some simple but profound lessons in testing, iteration, critical thinking and resilience.

The speculations about the future were on a high note in our second meet-up. Almost everything about AI, that someone would like to know, was there in the presentation given by Mr. Kundana. With all the facts, figures and speculations, he opened the eyes and minds of the gathering towards seeing AI which is there around us and growing. He talked in detail about what is AI, uses, misuses, benefits, and threats it poses in front of the human race. His energy and witty way of presentation spellbound the gathering till the end. All who attended had something to discuss and churn afterward, about AI and the future of the human race. The second international conference on Functional Textiles & Clothing organized by WUD with IIT Delhi is inaugurated. After almost a year of preparation, It is a happy moment to welcome speakers and delegates from over a 100 institutions of fashion and textiles.

Our Transportation Design students displayed their first ever full scale model of a 3D printed concept car at Auto-expo, Greater Noida. It generated a lot of media attention. It took these boys slightly over three weeks, with 3D printer working 24/7, to realize this output.

World University of Design is proud to announce its two-day Inter-College Annual Cultural Festival - “Cult 2019” to be held at our Campus. The festival will be a high profile event which would attract students from colleges in and around Delhi NCR & other states to compete on a big scale and showcase their talent. The festival is expected to be attended by almost 1800-2000 students. The festival is a forum for young minds to interact, share and discuss the latest happenings in the field of Design, Arts & Architecture and an opportunity for the youth to exhibit their talent by unleashing their potential.

3 Week residency program in the month of Jan – Feb 2019

As part of Global Goals Jam initiative of The Digital Society School, Amsterdam University of Applied sciences with UNDP, World University of Design is organizing the second exclusive workshop at its campus, aimed at achieving UNDPs sustainable goal #3 – Good Health & Well Being. GJJ is an international platform for inclusive learning where people from all around the world who contribute to the 17 global goals for sustainable development share their stories and talk about their projects and vision for the future. GGJ Delhi 2.0 provided an opportunity wherein human minds from various sectors can ideate & work together with industry experts, gain valuable insights and shape their ideas better to create a better future for mankind.

Inauguration of Clay Art studio was on 14 th February and continued till 23 rd February 2018 which was headed by Rajveerji a local potter from a nearby village. During this course we learnt 3 different methods: pinching coiling and wheel work. Pottery course took 10 days to finish. In the last 3-4 days gheru was applied over the finished works and then they were put to fire and after a day or so the fire settled and we could finally have our finished products displayed.

The next day we visited India Art Fair organised at NSIC Grounds Okhla New Delhi which offers curated insights into the fast developing local art scene and is the leading platform to develop modern and contemporary art from South Asia and a portal to the region cultural landscape. We as audience got to know the wide spectrum of artistic practices and relished looking at the art work there.

We went to Kala Mela 2018 which was the 1 st such event organised by Lalit Kala Academy inaugurated by the vice president of India Sri M. Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi on 3 rd February 2018. More than 800 artists from all over the world took part in the festival. Our university also took part in the event.We visited the fair for 3-4 days and were asked to document the work of the artist of our own choice. We also participated in the painting competition organised by Lalit Kala at the event.

Visit to suraj kundmela 2018 – surajkund is an annual fest that takes place in Faridabad Haryana . It is one the most popular and largest fairs in the world . Both National and international skilled craftsmen take part to showcase their talent .In 1987 the first surajkundmela was organised and became one of the most popular tourists site of haryana.This year it was organised for 17 days i.e. 2 nd to 18 th feb. We visited on 8 th February to experience the fair. we also interacted with some of the craftsmen and got to know about crafts traditions. We as Visual students got to know about various craft traditions from around the world and how can we include those crafts in our contemporary art practices.

On the 2 nd day we started our day from Delhi College of Art Tilak Marg New Delhi where we visited their studios and we got to know what surroundings the student’s work in and how the student utilise the place they have been provided by making installations public art etc. After that we visited Triveni Kala Sangam where we witnessed how K.G.Subramanyan works with diverse media and materials. He does not use icons as mythical characters or figures and most of his mural works are not decorative unlike other murals in India. Then we were in India Habitat Centre which is a multipurpose building in New Delhi where we saw different artists adopting different media commercially in the social space they were provided. Then for a short break we went to New Friends Colony and after our lunch we visited Gallery Escape where Samit Das works were displayed. We observed that the artist creates multiple layers and remarkable forms using urban architecture as his point of reference. He also interesting textures in his works some tactile while others are only visual. Then we winded up our day at NIV which is situated in Southern Outer edge of New Delhi where we got to know that it is an organisation which is focused on facilitating the fundamental necessities for advancement of cultural art practice.

On our first visit we went to Sudhir Patwardhan show at Vadehra Art Gallery Defence Colony New Delhi. His work was based on the city-scapes and reflects the lifestyle of urban middle class and drew their immediacy from the memories of the city. The works that we adored the most were his self –portraits and the paintings in which he showed his day-to- day life. After that we headed towards Saba Hasan show at Alliance Franciase Lodhi Estate, New Delhi . There we saw that she experiments with different kinds of mediums such as charcoal wax abstract photographs voice and video works. Her work reveals the forces of time, nature and personal histories in a vigorous expression. We even had a talk with her about her experiences with each medium she works with. Then we ended our day in Lalit Kala Academy where we saw interesting sculptures made from different food items and portraits on ceramic plates with acrylic and abstract photographs. So through this visit we got to know it is an autonomous organisation established by government of India to promote and propagate understanding of Indian art in and outside the nation.

Concrete is one of the most f lexible and dynamic building materials in today World By Offering a profoundly different building etchnique to architects it has significantly altered the way in which buildings are designed and constructed in the modern age . To Adequately appreciate concrete and its significance in modern architecture students were introduced with concrete as a building material. Through an exploration workshop and an industry visit students were taken to Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) Metro Plant Karkarduma and testing laboratory to understand the production and testing of concrete.

Wood is a common material used in our built structures. Wood has distinct characteristics and structural qualities. Students witnessed the transformation of a wooden log to a finished door at DS Doors factory in Badarpur. Importance of seasoning and the precision of joinery work was explained through this study trip.Bricks were introduced to the students. Theory and practical sessions were conducted using miniature bricks. After understanding the nature of the brick and its various bonds, the students explored forms using real bricks. The results were prolific.

A study grant was awarded to Wspa by intach to study the town of Dhubela in MP for Heritage and Development Potential Which Can be implemented by MP Government. Under the study WSPA has prepared a report that includes a) Proposals for Tourism Development and Heritage Conservation and b) A plan for visitor management with sensitivity to Heritage Resources and Community. A team of 10 students of World School of Planning and Architecture WUD and three faculty members undertook the study. This project was of core interest to WSPA as it goes hand in hand with it is philosophy.

Mehrauli was originally known as Mihirawali that menas The Home of Mihir It was founded and named after the King Mihir Bhoja of the Gujara Pratihara dynasty and is situated in the outskirts of Delhi. Mehrauli is a neighborhood in the South West district of Delhi in India. To its North lies Hauz Khas Vasant Kunj lies to its West and Tuglakabad to its South. Mehrauli is one of the seven ancient cities that make up the present state of Delhi. The students visited Mehrauli to study its urban village where tradition and modernity coexists. The inferences drawn by the students brought forth various layers of the complex fabric of the place. Students with the help of Nollis Plans derived the solid void composition of Mehrauli which has resulted in surviving of an ancient city. They even came to know how urbanization is destroying our Heritage. The study also included understanding of various styles of Stone masonry in the monuments.

Rewalsar is a small town nestled in suthern himalayan valley region which line in mandi district of himachal pradesh. the settlement surrounds aholy lake with temples a Gurudwara and various busshist manasteries Spread over the town the objective of the study was the understand the developement of urban fabric around the lake over the last decade.

Chandari is Situated In the state of madhya Pradesh and is Popularly Known for its sarees. The whole Settlement in fact is woven around the act of making a saree. it is the loom that is the most essential furniture of any household.the antiquity of the handloom industry in chanderi goes as far as back as the 14th century and in the beginning this exceptional fabric could only be afforded by the royalty and very rich.

Mcleodganj is a suburb of Dharamshala in Kangra District of himachal Pradesh india.it is Known as little Lhasa Because of its large Population of Tibetans. it is just 6km away from Dharamshala Which is recently declared as the second capital of indian state of himachal pradesh.Study

Prof. Iftikhar-mulk Chishti is a well known architect and an educator. Himself a graduate of School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, Prof. Chisti is also the founder and former Head of the Masters Programme in Industrial Design at SPA, Delhi. Besides his architectural practice he is well known as the convener of the public platform - Design X Design - an initiative of Alliance Francaise de Delhi and his StudioiF.

National Design Guru Day is celebrated in remembrance of Prof. M P Ranjan on 9th November, his birth date, by honoring senior educators in the creative domain who have dedicated a major part of life to the field and are leaving a legacy for new age educators. Design Guru Prof. Ranjan was the most popular Design educator in India. Born in Madras in 1950, Ranjan grew up observing furniture designed and produced in his father’s factory. His interest in design was nurturedat National Institute of Design (NID) and it became a passion for him as he got involved in design education. He had worked with various materials and techniques in his 40 years of design education practice and developed various products and has written books and articles on design development.

joseph allen stein was an american architect who practiced in india from 1952 till 2001, and who is known for his iconic buildings, primarily in lodi estate - the iic, the ihs, wwf and unicef buildings, lalit kala academy, australian high commission, american school and many more. he was awarded padamshri for his contribution to indian architecture. on his 15th death anniversary, wspa planned the event "remembering joseph allen stein" which included screening of a film on him followed by a panel discussion with eminent architects who had been his apprentices and prominent users of his buildings. the event took place at gulmohar hall, india habitat centre on 27th october 2016.

World University of Design cultural fest for the year 2018.

Over 220 abstracts have been received from over 90 institutions worldwide. International participation includes 51 papers from 33 universities from 22 countries including USA, UK, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, France, Germany and a host of European nations. Over 50 Indian Universities and Institutions have contributed. The innovation contest has already received 25 entries and the call is still open.

The National Design Guru Day is instituted in the memory of Prof. Ranjan of NID on his birth anniversary i.e. 9th November. This year World University of Design honored the architecture Guru - Prof. AGK Menon.
A G Krishna Menon is an architect, urban planner and conservation consultant practicing in Delhi for over 40 years. He is actively engaged in research and his contributions have been extensively published in professional journals and several academic books. He has also been actively involved in urban conservation and in 2004 drafted the INTACH Charter for the Conservation of Unprotected Architectural Heritage and Sites in India. He is currently the Convener of the Delhi chapter of INTACH. He was the first Dean of Studies at the TVB School of Habitat Studies and later its Director till the School was merged with the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University to become the University School of Architecture and Planning in 2007.
