Transportation Design

B.Des in Transportation Design

Mobility is a basic human need and also an engine of economic growth. In India, with its rapid urbanization, expanding EV sector, and diverse mobility challenges, there is an urgent need for designers who can create vehicles and systems that are functional, sustainable, and future-ready.

The B.Des in Transportation Design at WUD equips students to design across the spectrum of mobility — from two- and three-wheelers, passenger cars, and commercial vehicles to public transport, shared mobility, and experimental concepts. The program blends strong foundations in vehicle styling, ergonomics, aerodynamics, packaging, and materials with training in digital modeling, CAD, XR/VR prototyping, and mobility system design. Students engage in projects that analyze existing transport systems, critique their successes and failures, and propose innovative solutions for India and the world.

Graduates develop the expertise to address both practical, industry-ready design challenges and long-term societal and environmental needs.

Career Outcomes: Automotive Designer, EV Designer, Public Transport & Mobility Systems Designer, Interior & HMI Designer, Sustainable Mobility Specialist, CAD/3D Visualization Expert, and Design Entrepreneur in mobility start-ups. With India’s growing automotive and EV markets, as well as global demand for mobility talent, career opportunities are secure, rewarding, and future-oriented.
