Creative Painting

BVA in Creative Painting

Painting today is more than technique, it is a way of exploring ideas, emotions, and cultural narratives through both traditional and contemporary forms with various methods and materials. The BVA in Creative Painting at WUD encourages students to discover their unique artistic voice while mastering skills that are relevant to both fine art and applied creative fields.
The program integrates traditional methods like acrylic, oil, watercolour, and life/still drawing with contemporary practices such as digital painting, graphic novels, hybrid/expanded painting, and 3D spatial installation including performing Arts. Students explore colour, form, and gesture alongside storytelling, symbolism, and conceptual development. Studio practice is complemented with art theory, history, philosophy and cultural studies, providing context for contemporary Art-making.
Faculty who are practicing artists guide students through projects that balance skill-building, experimentation, and critical reflection. Students develop strong visual literacy, critical thinking, and professional practice skills, preparing them to sustain independent Art practices or apply their creativity across fields.

Career outcomes: Practicing Artist, Illustrator, Graphic Novelist, Medical/Scientific Illustrator, Gallery or Museum Curator, Arts Administrator, Exhibition Designer, Art Educator, or Creative Entrepreneur. Graduates also pursue careers in digital media, cultural institutions, publishing, and design studios, or advance to postgraduate study in fine arts.
