MPA Theatre
The Master of Performing Arts (Theatre) at WUD is a 2-year postgraduate program for graduates who wish to advance as performers, directors, designers, researchers, and cultural leaders. It provides a platform for students to deepen their practice, expand their theoretical knowledge, and develop the confidence to lead innovative projects in theatre and allied fields.
The program integrates advanced coursework in acting, directing, dramaturgy, production design, stagecraft, and collaborative performance, while encouraging experimentation with contemporary and classical theatre traditions, intercultural practices, and digital/hybrid forms of performance. Students also explore arts administration, cultural management, and applied theatre practices, enabling them to connect their artistry with broader social, educational, and community contexts.
From the second semester, students have the opportunity to specialize in their area of interest, developing independent or collaborative projects under the mentorship of accomplished theatre professionals, visiting artists, and scholars. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary exploration and critical debate, preparing students to situate their work within the evolving cultural, technological, and global landscapes of theatre.

Career outcomes: Graduates can pursue careers as actors, directors, playwrights, dramaturgs, stage/production designers, theatre educators, arts administrators, critics, community theatre practitioners, or cultural entrepreneurs. Many continue to doctoral studies or advanced research, positioning themselves for leadership in academia and the performing arts sector. With theatre’s growing presence across film, television, OTT, digital media, festivals, and applied community projects, this program opens secure and diverse career pathways.
